The Blue Wadi II (2021)
Installation
Wandering through a land mixed with truth and fiction in the heart of the desert, The Blue Wadi ll relays a story of two creatures on a journey of discovery between history, nature, geography and geology. Embracing the notions of apocalypses, the journey of the disappearance of worlds and the emergence of others, is encapsulated in the environment around them and their interactions with its inhabitants.
Esraa Elfeky developed The Blue Wadi II organically through expeditions in the desert protectorate in Cairo, a landscape that has adopted and adapted to many changes. Juxtaposing the stillness of the desert landscape with the movement of its yester self as a vast sea, she explores its ongoing eradication and remnants. These extinct worlds convey themselves through a video, audio, sculpture and drawing installation.
